Shirley
Gragg, a twenty-four year veteran weaver came to Crossnore Weavers in
1977. She apprenticed under Ossie Phillips, former manager and 1998 North
Carolina Folk Heritage winner. Shirley weaves our chenille throws, Ruanas
and pillows.
Lisa
Banner came to the weaving room in 1996, after learning to weave from
former Weaving Room employee Renee Banner. Lisa does our traditional patterns
in Bronson Lace Table Runners, Baby Blankets and Lee's Surrender Rugs.
Virginia
Coffey retired from Crossnore Weavers after eighteen years. She now does
contract weaving and crafts our chenille scarves and stoles.
Virginia
McClellan, pictured on the right, is a former seamstress for the Blue
Bell Company. She finishes all our hand woven goods, has been employed
by Crossnore for twenty years and has been at Crossnore Weavers for four
years. Patti Detwiler pictured on the left, is one of our many volunteers
that give generously to the many needs on the Crossnore campus. Patti
has been a Weaving Room volunteer for almost three years.
Our
student weavers are Brian and Stephanie. Crossnore Weavers employs and
trains any Crossnore student who would like to learn our craft.
